Long overdue crafting update!

OK, finally got my butt in gear and finished a few projects I'd been working on over the holidays. Here they are!

This little baby is a T Rex skull Broach hand carved using modeling clay.

It was a very tedious process that required a lot of patience and a very steady hand! But it was definitely worth it! This one was an experiment of sorts, as I was unsure how it would turn out due to the amount of miniscule detail required, and the demonstrably feeble qualities of Fimo! Next time, I will take pictures of the process and do a little tutorial ✂

Oh, and here she is in action!

If you haven't already guessed, I have the same interest and excitability concerning Dinosaurs as a 7 year old boy.
♡
This little baby is a head band I sewed using a vintage silk scarf.
She is much cleverer than she looks.. for the bow is adjustable, therefore it can be worn at any point along the band. Left, right centre.. wherever.  It also is structured with wire, so you can angle the bow however you may please! Personally, I follow the Blair Waldorf philosophy of headbanding... "The bow goes on the right" haha.

This is a wrap around headband I made last summer... but I don't believe I ever posted finished pictures of it. So here it is.

The band is braided and the rose was hand knitted.

Not the best photos, but I am wearing the headband I promise :)

And one last thing... doodle I did at the weekend. Expect more Dino-Doodles very soon!
I'm currently housesitting so I have a lot of free time and a whole big bag of crafting projects with me.. so I better get started!

Because we know we can't be found...

Finally I may share with you some of my latest creations... which until this point were festive surprises for my loved ones...now they have been successfully delivered to their new owners, here they are for your eyes.

Firstly, here is a painting I did for my wonderful Harriet. One day I will share the delights of our band with you... and this will make much more sense. Until then, consider it a tribute, from one Beatles fan to another,  depicting 3 best friends crossing a zany newsprint cartoon road.

NB: drawing faces in profile is something I have never been able to master.

Snow Day.

This weeks headlines:
  • Temperatures plummet to record breaking lows in the UK
  • Disney announces that Tangled is to be their last animated Princess movie.
  • Still no word on my visa
OK, so it's cold. Very cold. Currently residing in my sisters country cottage, I have become accustomed to the art of layering. My at home outfits however, are certainly not fit for the general publics eyes. It's possible I will actually be taking my hat to bed with me this evening... amongst my varied heatable animal friends and 4 layer thick pyjama ensemble.
There's no venturing outdoors for this girl... at least not without just cause... hence I bring you doodling & puzzles...
Lordy I love words... especially when they need unjumbling. SuperDork™
I also love my glow in the dark spaceship pyjama jumpsuit... even if it does bring my sanity into question.

Some new doodles I did this week playing around with graphic markers... I just adore them.. so quick and easy to use.

Here is a video for you.

Until next time,

Oh heavens. Will I ever learn?

Last night my sister and I went out with our work friends as a sort of farewell for my sister, whose departure back to Los Angeles is imminent. Unfair. Apparently I decided to drown my sorrows in jagermeister. And wine. And vodka. And beer. Oh, what fun was had sharing stories and giggles, pretending for just one night that I had adopted some sort of magical drinking karma...

I had not.

Woeful is the girl who wakes up on a blissfully sunny day, full of hope and promise, with what can only be described as an invisible steel bar drilled through her temples. Ouch. Needless to say I was resigned to my bed for the best part of the day. Missing the glorious summers day beyond my window, and cursing the negative after effects of mixing my drinks. A favourite quote from The House Of Mirth by Edith Wharton comes to mind;

"...was feeling the pleasant languor which is youth's penalty for dancing till dawn"

Although there was surely nothing pleasant about my situation, I found that it was vastly improved by the following, for which I could not be more grateful:

1. My sister making me Mac & Cheese. Love. Followed by Pasta Carbonara, buttery brown bread toast and four cheese pizza. Apparently my hangovers crave Italian, and who am I to neglect such things?

2. Tea. Lots of delicious tea. Cherry Cola & Berocca have also proved themselves invaluable throughout the course of the day.

3. Lounging; Bed, trampoline, sofa.

4. Music. Zeppelin, Pierces, Regina, Talking Heads, Beatles, The George Mitchell Blues Collection.

5. Drawing. Painting. Doodling.

6. Talking with dear friends in distant lands whom I miss terribly.

7. Receiving a precious lil' postcard from my darling Bree.

8. Remembering past hangover experiences, how amusing they are to me now, and thus how one day, this to shall be nothing more than a fond memory from my carefree youth.

9. Looking through the photographs from the previous evening, and putting 2 & 2 together.

10. Writing this here blog about the entire debaucle.

I'd trade all my tomorrows for one single yesterday...

SUNday. Yes, the sun decided to show itself today briefly. But, I'm still not 100% so I've been hibernating with my sister .. painting, sewing and watching good bad TV. Haven't been able to find Gus Van Sants remake of Psycho anywhere. . and the links that claim to host it are infact tricking you into watching American Psycho. Not sure how far I am willing to go for a movie that could potential suck.
Silly Sally.

The cat just brought a baby bunny in, the little darling was so frightened. Sadly, I fear her days are numbered, and she was released to the fields as far from the kitties clutches as possible.
Here is what I did this afternoon..

Hopefully this will work this time!

It's entirely possible that I'm knitting a ranch house ...

"Promise me something... don't take me home until I am drunk.. until I am very drunk indeed."
Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany's

New Painting... This one is based on one of my favourite photographs of MKO.
<3
I've been a very busy little lady this weekend. Also made this necklace. . .

I've replaced my usual painting on the Porch of my LA home with painting on the trampoline of my sisters UK home.
Also here is the skirt I made out of the rest of that dress I blogged recently.
