Something I forgot

It suddenly occurred to me that I neglected to share with you the labeling and packaging my sister and I put together for our Biddleton line. Our resources and energy levels were both severely depleted by the time we reached this stage.. but when a friend of ours (and rockstar.. check out her band HERE) asked us to donate a gift package to a Rock for the Cause Cancer Fundraiser her band was holding, we had to think fast and get. it. done! And that we did!

Here is a sampler...

Set of 3 fabric wrapped/braided bangles with Rosette detail

Single rosette broach
Make up bag/ pouch
We managed to refine them a little before we eventually found a buyer for our collection. Incidentally, if you are in LA be sure to stop by Dust Muffin , located at Sunset Junction where you will find many handmade Biddleton items!

I have so much I want to share with you all today, including a trip to the Fayre and the start of a photo challenge I have decided to partake in!

Art Update

Just taking a quick intermission to share a new painting/ collage I did last week. I've wanted to do a series of these for some time now, and when a bunch of photo frames fell into my lap I decided fate was telling me to pick up my paintbrush and get goin'!

Now, back to Biddleton label making!

Toowittt tawoooo!

I have another post I am working on right now, but I just wanted to share with you some of the things I made last week... still have a little sewing to finish before I can post all of them!

Head band and bow hand sewn from Vintage lace
Bow hair slide in vintage lace
And this little owl hat I actually made over Christmas, but as it was a gift for a friend, I never got round to posting a photo for fear of him seeing it before it was delivered!

Long overdue crafting update!

OK, finally got my butt in gear and finished a few projects I'd been working on over the holidays. Here they are!

This little baby is a T Rex skull Broach hand carved using modeling clay.

It was a very tedious process that required a lot of patience and a very steady hand! But it was definitely worth it! This one was an experiment of sorts, as I was unsure how it would turn out due to the amount of miniscule detail required, and the demonstrably feeble qualities of Fimo! Next time, I will take pictures of the process and do a little tutorial ✂

Oh, and here she is in action!

If you haven't already guessed, I have the same interest and excitability concerning Dinosaurs as a 7 year old boy.
This little baby is a head band I sewed using a vintage silk scarf.
She is much cleverer than she looks.. for the bow is adjustable, therefore it can be worn at any point along the band. Left, right centre.. wherever.  It also is structured with wire, so you can angle the bow however you may please! Personally, I follow the Blair Waldorf philosophy of headbanding... "The bow goes on the right" haha.

This is a wrap around headband I made last summer... but I don't believe I ever posted finished pictures of it. So here it is.

The band is braided and the rose was hand knitted.

Not the best photos, but I am wearing the headband I promise :)

And one last thing... doodle I did at the weekend. Expect more Dino-Doodles very soon!
I'm currently housesitting so I have a lot of free time and a whole big bag of crafting projects with me.. so I better get started!

Because we know we can't be found...

Finally I may share with you some of my latest creations... which until this point were festive surprises for my loved ones...now they have been successfully delivered to their new owners, here they are for your eyes.

Firstly, here is a painting I did for my wonderful Harriet. One day I will share the delights of our band with you... and this will make much more sense. Until then, consider it a tribute, from one Beatles fan to another,  depicting 3 best friends crossing a zany newsprint cartoon road.

NB: drawing faces in profile is something I have never been able to master.

L♥VE.

My sister once said to me that she thinks it is hard for me to love one person completely because I adore so many full heartedly.

Recently, various people I know (all called Emma incidentally!) have been pleading with me to watch Paper Heart.. and yesterday I finally did.. and it has me thinking a lot about not just love.. but the whole concept of relationships, marriage.. and what is "normal". I'll save my rant on Normality for now, that's a whole other blog. . and I want to concentrate on the aortic pump!

Unlike Cheyenne Yi in Paper heart, I do believe in love. Have I been in love? No. I've been infatuated.. i've been heartbroken...I've lusted, liked and adored, yes.. but never been in love.

When you are single, and don't except dates from every testosterone fueled male who offers you a free meal, or sleep with anyone who seems willing, does that make you too picky?
Personally, I think that I could certainly stand to be a little more open minded when it comes to who I chose to date. . . but I am also of the belief that I know what I want.

I get bored easily with most boys. I need someone who interests me. . .  entertains me. . . makes me laugh and keeps me on my toes. . .  is that so wrong? Why waste time - not to mention potentially form attachments to people who aren't right for you, when the relationship is pretty much expiring from the first date.  Why should we settle for something other than what we want?

On the other hand. . . what if these boys who are deemed "not right" are cleverly disguised... what if something we don't think or know we want, turns out to be everything we never knew we needed. . but makes us 100% happy?!

These questions of course have no factual answers. . sure, there are statistics about marriage and divorce, and scientific theories on the connection between increased serotonin levels and the "feeling" of being in love. . . but their is no real definition, no reasoning behind love. All we can do is make hypothesis based on experience and the norm.

I think love exists. I think it's a combination of friendship, lust, passion, adoration and something magical and illogical that can not be explained.

When I find it, I'll let you know what it is

Healthy hair is happy hair!

Yesterday I got my first haircut Since Jan 09. I went to see my hairdresser/ photographer friend of years past. . back when I was a Harajuku loving teen with rainbow hair, she used to have full control over my styles in exchange for my face in her shop window & publicity materials.

My love for bright colours over the years has faded, but here are some of my hair styles from years past. . what a difference a decade makes!

... and those are just the ones I have digitally documented!

Nothing Lasts Forever

People die, memories fade, friends move, lovers come and go, technology becomes obsolete, books are finished, songs end, people grow, relationships change, broken hearts heal, bank balances ebb and flow, shoes wear out, arguments are resolved, bad moods improve, awful jobs end, needs evolve, desires modify.

In a lifetime, our selves and everything around us is constantly shifting. Nothing we do, nothing we hate, nothing we love. . know one we know,  is forever. You will never be who you are today again.

These words come to you from a place of indifference; no anger, no sorrow, just clarity: appreciate, smile and simply be. Life is short and nothing lasts forever.

I'd trade all my tomorrows for one single yesterday...

SUNday. Yes, the sun decided to show itself today briefly. But, I'm still not 100% so I've been hibernating with my sister .. painting, sewing and watching good bad TV. Haven't been able to find Gus Van Sants remake of Psycho anywhere. . and the links that claim to host it are infact tricking you into watching American Psycho. Not sure how far I am willing to go for a movie that could potential suck.
Silly Sally.

The cat just brought a baby bunny in, the little darling was so frightened. Sadly, I fear her days are numbered, and she was released to the fields as far from the kitties clutches as possible.
Here is what I did this afternoon..

Hopefully this will work this time!
